Our Story

The story of how Liz and Vince ended up dating is a long one. Eighteen months, to be exact. You see, back in Buffalo, 2014 Liz was a mermaid and Vince was known by his friends as The Great Bear, Lord of the Forest. I won’t bore you with the details, we all know the rabid history of how mermaids and forest creatures were forbidden from being together (racism, am I right?). The point is, this great bear and adorable mermaid were able to turn an established cultural taboo on its head – a mermaid and a bear… together! Romantically! So scandalous!

With the help of their loyal friends, the woodland fairies and seafaring pirates, their love was recognized, nurtured, and everyone lived happily ever after!

UNTIL… The great job change of 2015 occurred, taking Vince away from Buffalo! He was bound for the exotic land of Rochester. Luckily, Liz foresaw this development and made a career change of her own, allowing her to work from anywhere in the Universe so long as there was WiFi. Mermaid jobs require WiFi; don’t question it. Not more than 6 months later Liz and Vince said their goodbyes to the Buffalo crew and set forth for Rochester together. There they would meet up with old friends, make new ones, and buy a dining room table with matching chairs. A very adult thing to do.

Yes, their lives were changing, becoming more stable. It was time for the winds of change to blow again. In July of 2016, the Bear King (not to be confused with The Great Bear, Lord of the Forest; they’re different) sent a letter to Liz, Lady of Flowers, asking for her aide. That same day she received another letter, this time from a mysterious cult called the Order of the Knot. They wanted to destroy the corrupt Bear King and also needed Liz’s aid. She had to choose who to support, and her choice would determine the future of the kingdom.

Because Liz always plays Chaotic/Good characters, she chose to lead the king on but secretly help the cult. This did not end well for either parties, and they both died. It was not romantic. At all. Not even a little. But somehow it was all okay because Vince came home and proposed! With a pun! What a goof!

This brings us to the present. We hope very much that you will join us on our wedding day, and celebrate the joining of the two dorkiest people on the planet. Cheers!
